every day, ordinary

"Seize life! Eat bread with gusto, Drink wine with a robust heart. Oh yes—God takes pleasure in your pleasure! Dress festively every morning. Don't skimp on colors and scarves. Relish life with the spouse you love each and every day of your precarious life. Each day is God's gift. It's all you get in exchange For the hard work of staying alive. Make the most of each one! Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily!"
-Ecclesiastes 9:7 (The Message)

Wow. I love the way the Message lets me see things afresh.
Love that God takes pleasure in our pleasure.
I sometimes think that God is only taking pleasure in my life when I am active and obviously doing something for Him. Like ministry stuff, or volunteer stuff.
But no, God likes it all. All the every day stuff.
Today He loved watching me hang out with my husband.
He loved watching me nutting out my new overlocker and attempt a nighty for Miss 2-year-old.
He loved hearing my thoughts today after reading this beautiful blog post, and seeing my resolve to change my thought life, and let Him create a beautiful garden in my heart.
He even loved seeing my delight at finding and purchasing a pretty top in some post Christmas sales!

Romans 12, also in The Message says "Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out."
I just LOVE this! I am going to whip out the liquid chalk marker and scrawl it somewhere prominent. I need to read this every day. And apply it.
To give Him my ordinary life. Even when I think it is ordinary, he wants it as an offering.

He loves our boring old every day lives: even the sleeping and eating parts!
(I really love the sleeping and eating parts!)

5 Loves this second (in no particular order):

1. Fabric all over the lounge room floor
2. Seeing the sunset as we drove past the ocean near home
3. Our new coffee machine and the yummy latte it's about to make me at the push of a button
4. Reading the book of Romans in the Message
5. Anticipation of Twentyeleven!
